Reading Tails

The Reading Tails Program is a program designed to assist children in developing and improving their reading skills while also helping the WAHS shelter cats by providing socialization and human interaction.

 

  • Available to children 6-12 years old
  • Parent/Guardian is required to accompany the Reading Tails Member
  • On-site & Virtual Experiences on select Tuesdays-Saturdays
  • Reading Tails Members have the opportunity to read to the adoptable cats of the WAHS during their session
  • On-site & Virtual Sessions are 30 minutes long
  • Bring your favorite book from home or borrow one from our Community Room to read to one of the WAHS cats

WAHS Junior Ambassador

Do you have a child that loves animals and wants to support the Washington Area Humane Society? Become a WAHS Junior Ambassador today! This membership is a great opportunity for children to learn about proper animal care, safe handling, respect for animals, and more! As a WAHS Junior Ambassador, your child will help promote kindness, compassion, and empathy for all animals.

Birthday Parties

Host your PARTY ANIMAL’S birthday at the Washington Area Humane Society!

Limited availability on Saturdays in May through September

WAHS Junior Ambassadors receive a discounted rate and can host a birthday party anytime throughout the year!

  • $300 donation for a party with 10 children & 2 adults
  • $10 donation for each additional party guest (WAHS can accommodate up to 20 children per party)
  • A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking and applied to your balance.

SILVER PACKAGE

Field Trips & Tours

Do you have a group that is passionate about animals? During this half-hour long field trip or tour, your group will learn more about the Washington Area Humane Society, go on a behind the scenes tour of the WAHS, and meet an adoptable animal.
